CHARACTER INFO

Character: Rosalia Rossellini
Canon: Trauma Team - Post-Game
Age: 15

Background Information:
"He says I've got a poison and a cure in my body... and that the poison's really scary, but the cure is really amazing..."

It was a poison that took her early life away and sent her to an orphanage, and a cure that had Dr. Albert Sartre adopt the girl Rosalia Rossellini.

It was the same poison that could destroy the world, but could also cure every disease known to man.

She never fully understood what that meant when he told her, but she did understand enough. By watching her father infect those lab rats with her 'poison' and try to cure them only for them to die instead, she understood those rats could be people; those people would die in similar horrific ways if she wasn't careful. Maybe the kids in the orphanage knew that; or maybe the adults running the orphanage did and tried to keep her away only for those kids to bully her instead. It wasn't nice, but it was better this way. Rosalia would never want to see what happened to those animals happen to anyone ever.

When the accident happened at her father's school, she didn't understand why they had to leave her brother behind. Weren't they a family? She wanted to see him again. Maybe when their father finally discovered the cure in her body; and when everyone could be healed, she would him again and make more friends.

... She understood.

The poison in her body, it could drive people mad; it could even turn her father - doing his best to smile when things became tough - into a cruel man. Her poison made him sick, made him attack her, made him kill her; and she saw him cry near her body before he left. She saw her poison turn the flowers around her body blue and watched as the butterflies flew; back towards her brother where they once lived before. He would be the cure, but it was only...

"Beginning..."

Personality:
1) Tell us about who your character is and what someone’s first impression would be upon meeting them.
- Upon first meeting Rosalia, one would normally think she's an innocent girl. More paranoid people would think she's playing the bit given she's a teenager and teenagers can be awful, but Rosalia really is innocent. Being largely ostracized in her childhood and intentionally isolated from the world when she got older, Rosalia's minimal interaction with people and exposure to the public means she's quite naive, but she also has a simple joy in daily life. Her father literally took her off-the-grid to a small cabin in Mexico so he could continue studying her virus without being discovered after all meaning she grew up with him, books, and plenty of nature between the field they lived in, the forest nearby, and the mountains in the distance.

2) What is a driving force your character has? What goals do they have, what motivates them, etc?
- Rosalia's driving forces are simple: she wants to live like a normal person and be able to help anyone she can. She does understand people can be cruel and bad things happen because she was bullied as a child and later killed by her father, but she's that little kindness in the world that persists despite everything. I doubt she'll start off with any initial goals beyond getting to know the world and people, but as time progresses and she learns more, I'm sure she could be easily swayed into helping in explorations... as long as she's not involved in combat. She really does dream to show people a beautiful world and hope for everyone's happiness.

3) What are their flaws as a character? What is something they've messed up, or have done that they regret?
- Because of aforementioned isolation, Rosalia is naive and easy to manipulate. Obviously, she understands the basics of good and bad, right and wrong, but she certainly lacks in street smarts. She's also empathetic so being emotionally manipulated into ideals that go against her own would be simple; it just takes a little false kindness since this would be a rare moment being around people. Rosalia also keeps any of her own pain from others because she doesn't want them to worry or distract them, but she's pretty bad about lying.

Unfortunately, Rosalia didn't get to live long enough to 'mess up' or do something she, herself, regretted. She did, however, wish she could've seen the butterflies migrating with her Big Sis and Brother before everything happened.

4) Optional: What is something unique and interesting about them, or what is a fun little tidbit that sets them apart from the crowd?
- Rosalia has (anime) albinism: white hair, pink eyes, and pale skin. She tends to stand out because of this. As well, living in isolation with her dad, she learned how to use small devices like tape recorders, learned how to cook (and be very careful with sharp objects), and tried reading what books were available/provided. Lots of what she understands comes mainly from books; and she isn't a doctor (obviously) and terms can fly over her head, but her dad was a Professor of Virology so there's vague understanding of medicine on her part. She really enjoys gardening too as she helped grow a whole field of milkweeds for the monarch butterflies - Oh! And she's a girl that loves insects since other animals... uh, died around her usually.

Abilities & Inventory:

Ability - Rosalia Virus
• Named after her posthumously, this is less an ability and just a virus that exists within Rosalia; however, it is classed among Viral Hemorrhagic Fevers like Ebola and Marburg. The disease itself does nothing to Rosalia save for giving her albinism and, in fact, protects her from a myriad of diseases and foreign bodies in general. Even in death, the virus stopped her body from decomposing in a flower field by aggressively attacking the bacteria that handle the process, making her body turn into adipocere.

Now, while this virus is good to her, it's when others are infected by it via blood or a vector that permits it to reach the mucous membrane it becomes an issue. Cells outside of Rosalia's own, it begins to infect, forming tumors which are actually multiplying colonies, spreading during a 'Dark Stage'. Once maturity is reached, these colonies rupture to attack everything within the infected patient. Bones, vessels, organs, everything cell it does not recognize, it ravages and destroys quickly and utterly that three days is all it takes before an untreated patient dies. Fortunately, it's possible to make an antiserum in order to combat the virus, and those infected by Rosalia's Virus can find any prior illnesses cured as well once the infection is removed since the virus has a habit of incorporating/devouring other diseases too.

In-game, the virus has far less infectivity and cannot be spread from person-to-person even if it gets to the external hemorrhaging stages. As well, progression of the disease can take longer so people don't die in three days once it's out of the Dark Stage, but symptoms like convulsions, bizarre tumor formations, bruising, exhaustion, mental instability, and bloody saliva can be present early on and quite puzzling. A cure can be made from Rosalia, but the intention is also having her blue milkweeds on hand that the cure can be extracted from them as well. Infections will require player permissions and anything larger scale (like an infection among NPCs), I'd like to be informed before that happens too.

Inventory -
• White dress
• Pink hair ribbons
• Sandals
• Blue and Orange Milkweeds

- Prior to arriving, Rosalia was dead in a field of milkweeds. Orange is the flower's natural color, but the blue-hued milkweeds have absorbed her blood beneath her and changed to an unnatural one. A few arrived, but only because they cling to her clothes.

ARMADA SELECTION

For Rosalia, I'm picking Paladin. Rosalia is honest and innocent with a more black and white view of the world, and doesn't consider things like breaking rules. While she doesn't have the strength to reinforce rules or really want to impose them on others, she would like everyone to be happy and safe.

Questions: I kind of wanted Rosalia's magic to be able to cure the disease too since she's intimately familiar with it but it's very draining on her, but I also didn't want the cure just limited to that while also not wholly curable by magic only. So I was thinking other healing magics could alleviate symptoms and delay progression while a cure is made. Any suggestions to another balanced solution? Then again, how does most healing magic work on things like diseases in escordvi?
